Notes:
Introduced in 1977, reference 3848 remained in production until 1998. Succeeding the reference 3648, this new Ellipse incorporates the caliber 215, rather than the 23-300 that equipped earlier models. Patek Philippe, which had entrusted the manufacture of the cases for the 3648 to Baumgartner, now turns to Favre-Perret, as evidenced by our example stamped with the manufacturer’s key 115. Favre-Perret is one of Patek Philippe’s major partners, and it was to this manufacturer that the company entrusted the production of the cases for its legendary 3940 from 1985 onwards.
