The history of the PORRENTRUY watchmaking school dates back to 1842, when the first apprentice workshop was established at the Chateau. The official decision to create a proper school was made in 1882, and the institution opened its doors in 1884. From then on, students regularly produced school watches and genuine apprenticeship pieces designed to put into practice the technical and aesthetic knowledge passed on through their courses. These watches span a wide period, from rare and sought-after antique piece of the late 19th century to more recent models like our present example, well preserved and accompanied by its original bulletin de chronométrie.

Dial: Grey with applied Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds with outer minute track, signed “Ecole d’horlogerie PORRENTRUY”
Movement: mechanical manual winding, with special finishing for the COSC (bulletin), stamped “IWC”
