24 juin 2026 - Basel Watch Auction
Combining the rarity of a minute repeater with the exclusivity of a one-off commission, the present watch represents a particularly intriguing example of independent Swiss high watchmaking at the turn of the twenty-first century. Watches made on special order for Styla S.A. are encountered only rarely, and examples incorporating a complication of this calibre are rarer still.
Significance:
The present watch unites a traditional manually wound minute-repeating movement with a bespoke 18K gold case made for Styla S.A., illustrating the continued survival of independent Swiss complication craftsmanship into the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
Stila S.A., La Chaux-de-Fonds, founded in 1933, is a respected Swiss manufacturer specializing in high-grade watch cases. As a supplier rather than a public-facing watch brand, the company has traditionally produced cases for a range of prestigious Swiss manufactures and independent watchmakers, continuing the long-standing Jura tradition of specialist case production.
